Jóhann Jóhannsson is an Icelandic composer and producer. The BBC has called him "an intrepid musical enigma"and his work has been called "elegant, haunting and melancholic".His music is frequently influenced by minimalism, film music, baroque music and drone music and combines classical orchestration with electronic music. He was born in Reykjavík, Iceland.
Jóhann Jóhannsson's initial album, Englabörn, from 2002 was one of the first and most influential releases in the broad-reaching, post-classical/modern composition field. Jóhann Jóhannsson has since released several studio albums.
Jóhann has also developed a rich career as a composer for film, TV and theater, culminating in 2013 with his dark score for Denis Villeneuve's "Prisoners". His most recent release, the soundtrack to "McCanick" marks his first collaboration with Milan Records.
