Wondla

WondLa centers around Eva, voiced by Jeanine Mason (Roswell, New Mexico), a curious, enthusiastic and spirited teenager being raised in a state-of-the-art underground bunker by Muthr, a robot caretaker, voiced by Emmy Award nominee Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives). On her 16th birthday, an attack on Eva’s bunker forces her onto the Earth’s surface, which is now inhabited by aliens and covered with otherworldly fauna, and there are no other humans to be found. In fact, it’s no longer called Earth, but Orbona.

Im partnership with Skydance Animation and Apple TV+, the soundtrack for the highly anticipated animated series WondLa, features original music composed by the talented composer, Joy Ngiaw. Available everywhere now, the album arrives alongside the debut of the series on Apple TV+ and showcases Joy’s innovative and emotionally resonant compositions, which bring the world of WondLa to life. The soundtrack includes 23 tracks, each crafted to reflect the diverse and otherworldly environments encountered by the series’ characters. Additionally, the album features “Meego and Friends,” a special song written by the series’ filmmakers.

Joy took a unique approach to scoring WondLa through involving the use of orchestral music, synthesizers, world music, and vocals– creating distinct soundscapes for the various alien tribes and advanced human civilization that the characters encounter.

Using instruments like African percussion, Southeast Asian mallets, Viking war horns, Mongolian choirs, ethnic flutes, and Amazonian textures, Joy aimed to capture each group’s essence and environment, adding a unique sonic identity. For the advanced human civilization, she used synthesizers to create a stark contrast. Joy also contributed original vocals to immerse viewers in WondLa’s world.

“I spent two-and-a-half years crafting this stunning and epic series and loved every minute,” reflects Joy. “I am so appreciative of the collaboration opportunity with showrunner Bobs Gannaway, storyteller Andrew Schmidt, Skydance Animation, and the Apple Music team for trusting me with Tony DiTerlizzi’s wonderful trilogy. I can’t wait for the world to experience WondLa!”

Wondla is now streaming on Apple TV+.
