Out Now: Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ Original Score for Luca Guadagnino’s Queer
QUEER (ORIGINAL SCORE) is available everywhere now, featuring music by two-time Academy Award® winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for director Luca Guadagnino’s new film. Following GRAMMY®-nominated collaboration on Challengers, Reznor and Ross deliver a lushly evocative score that builds alongside the evolving onscreen drama, which is based on the unfinished novel by William S. Burroughs and explores the romance between two American expats in Mexico City. Inspired by Burroughs’ cut-up literary technique, the composers utilized sampled instrumentation to create a recurring palette of gauzy, ethereal solo piano and woodwind orchestrations, led by a recurring Love theme that recurs throughout the films.
Also featured on the score is, “Vaster than Empires”, an original song performed by legendary Brazilian composer and singer Caetano Veloso and Trent Reznor. The lyrics were lifted directly from Burroughs’ memoirs, building layers of emotion throughout each verse, making it a fitting end to the film and score itself.
Queer is now available in select theaters from A24 with a nationwide rollout to follow.
