In partnership with EDGLRD, we’re thrilled to bring you the hypnotic, genre-bending original score to AGGRO DR1FT (ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK), composed, produced and performed by legendary GRAMMY®-nominated producer and DJ AraabMuzik for Harmony Korine‘s latest film. Shot entirely on thermal lenses, AGGRO DR1FT plunges viewers into the seedy underworld of Miami, following a seasoned hitman on a relentless quest to kill a demonic crime lord.
Anchored by a palette of atmospheric synthwork, ambient choral vocals and dark, pulsating instrumentation, AraabMuzik has crafted an expansive soundscape that fully immerses viewers into the hyper-stylized world of AGGRO DR1FT. From the bombastic opening synths of “The Matrix” to the trance-infused “Devine,” the score draws heavily from AraabMuzik’s extensive EDM background, providing a captivating sonic continuity to the onscreen story. Elsewhere, AraabMuzik infuses the score with echoes of classic film music tropes – from the spaghetti Western-inspired “Wild West Bill” to the soaring, action-packed orchestration of “The Apex” – mirroring the project’s boundary-pushing experimentation in form. The resulting soundtrack manages to break through the onslaught of onscreen thermal imagery, heightening the overall sensory experience and becoming an integral part of the film’s interactive nature.
Coinciding with today’s soundtrack release, the official music video for one of the film’s central themes, “Medieval” also makes it’s debut – offering a taste of the film’s mesmerizing, neon-drenched infrared visuals with a bombastic, earworm of a beat to match. Travis Scott, who appears in the film alongside Jordie Molla, also makes an appearance in the EDGLRD-produced video.
“Collaborating with Harmony is always a vibe,” says AraabMuzik. “We both have our own unique sound and vision, and together, we push the boundaries of what’s possible in music and film.” This partnership extended beyond the studio, with AraabMuzik joining EDGLRD for a series of international tour dates. These events, including a Boiler Room performance in Miami during Art Basel, combined film screenings with live DJ sets and audiovisual performances, featuring artists like Yung Lean, Arca, and Evian Christ.
