Brimstone Music By Tom Holkenborg / Junkie XL

Directed and written by Martin Koolhoven, starring Dakota Fanning, Kit Harington and Guy Pearce, Brimstone is a dramatic epic of survival and a tale of powerful womanhood and resistance against the unforgiving cruelty of a hell on earth. Liz (Dakota Fanning) is a mute young woman who lives together with her husband and two children. She is a midwife who communicates through sign language. When the new reverend (Guy Pearce) climbs the pulpit in their church, Liz freezes. She immediately knows she and her family are in grave danger.
Acclaimed composer Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) has crafted a beautiful and dramatic orchestral score inspired by Bach‘s Passacaglia And Fugue in C Minor.

“Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor has always been my favorite organ piece by Bach. I have been looking for an opportunity to write music for a film inspired by this beautiful work, which I found in collaborating with Martin Koolhoven. He was immediately attracted to the idea and my resulting composition became a theme for the reverend, in which you can hear the influence of this brilliant Bach piece. His music will continue inspiring myself and many other composers for hears to come! Enjoy!”
