Martin Sheen plays Tom, an American doctor who comes to Saint Jean-Pied-de-Port, France, to collect the remains of his adult son, killed in the Pyrenees in a storm while walking the Camino de Santiago, also known as The Way of Saint James. Driven by his profound sadness and desire to understand his son better, Tom decides to embark on the historical pilgrimage, leaving his “California bubble life” behind.
The film is very music-driven and features songs from James Taylor, David Gray, Alanis Morissette and Nick Drake, among others. These songs are on the soundtrack album as well. Tyler Bates (300, Watchmen, Suckerpunch, Conan The Barbarian 3D) composed a subtle and effortless score in the best road-trip movie tradition.
Enjoy the music, the film and… Buen Camino.
